USEFUL TIPS
- Try to sing and talk to your baby. Look in the eyes of your baby. Looking in baby's eyes will develop his confidence, not only at his mother but also on the whole world. Main thing is the interaction with your child or if you are using trusted breast pumps just sit back and relax.
- First you must mastered the side lying position or the one in which you feel comfortable. This is so important and you must learn as soon as possible and this is very much useful for mother to get some rest as well rest and one more useful precaution, make sure that your bed must be in safe condition in case you both happen to fall asleep while nursing–a beautiful thing!
- Drink some water and try to eat some healthy but light food. It’s a good idea to keep water handy and have easy snacks ready to grab on your way to the rocking chair or glider. Try carrot sticks, an apple or a banana. You can watch television but make sure that your baby is not disturbed by the noise; this can be a nice way for you to enjoy.
- Read a book to your older child (ren). Make an effort to include your other children in that special snuggle time on the couch.
- Playing games is also a good point. Some mothers find it helpful to use a sling to nurse, freeing up both hands for a game of Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders. If you don’t have older children, a sling can help free up your hands for housecleaning (who am I kidding though–I am more likely to use the time to rest, eat, watch television or do all three at once!
- Talk to your family members or friends on the telephone, even while breast feeding. Once you’ve mastered breastfeeding, those nursing sessions are a great time to catch up on some adult conversation!
- Appreciate the quiet. Appreciate this special time with your child, for breast feeding, no matter how crazy the rest of your day was and trusted breast pumps will help you a lot.
- Applaud yourself on the grand job you have done as a mother. As corny as it sounds, you should be proud of your accomplishment in nursing and breast feeding your child!
